We’re an independent label trying our very best to put the environment first. We believe in fair trade and sustainable development: respecting you with the best materials; respecting the people who make your clothes with dignified working conditions; and respecting the earth by limiting our impact on the environment.
We not only plant trees but source sustainable clothing for our designs, this includes organic and recycled options and greener T-shirts – made in factories that use 7% less water, are solar powered and produce virtually zero waste.
Organic cotton is a natural, GMO-free fibre that uses less water than standard cotton. In addition, its production does not involve the use of chemicals (no fertilisers or pesticides) and encourages rotation of crops to keep soil healthier, more fertile and maintain humidity. Waste from the cotton ginning process is also recycled for the animal feed industry.
Regenerated cotton yarn is derived from cotton waste from the cutting room, which is normally destined for landfill. This saves energy, water, dyes, emissions and land mass needed to grow new cotton; saving the use of pesticides and fertilisers as a result.
So we know polyester is not known for its sustainability. However, polyester is still a very important and durable material in the textile industry. It increases the softness, quality and longevity of an item, meaning your clothing will last. Each garment uses on average 18 plastic bottles, and it saves them from going into the ocean or landfill.
We highly recommend the use of a Guppy Friend Wash Bag while washing your clothes, this reduces any plastic microfibres from entering our water systems.
Eco-Friendly Process Items
We still have a long way to go as a small business, we realise our eco offerings are still limited. However, we are now proud to announce that all our T-shirts are now made using an Eco-Friendly Process. This means 7x less water used in the dying process, they are produced in solar powered factories and these factories also produce almost no waste for landfill.
Our Printing Process
We screen print most of our items by hand – meaning less environmental impact due to using little to no electricity. We also use solar panels to power a lot of our machines. We only use inks that are eco-friendly, Soil Association approved and vegan (not tested on animals or containing any animal bi-products) and the cleaning products we use are organic and drain-safe. We recycle as much waste as possible, for example re-using tags which are removed upon purchase.
Every one of us can make a difference, we can all do our bit.
Please wear your clothes for longer, look after them carefully and most of all recycle items properly for maximum impact!
